Application procedure

The application procedure follows the logic of the beneath shown graph. Applications can be submitted from January - May. Applicants who were not succesful in the first run may succeed in the second phase.

We can now offer scholarships possibilities to successful applicants for the Master's program "Public Management in International Cooperation - Designing African-European and Intra-African Relations". The scholarships have been made possible by generous donations.

Target Group

In accordance with the political goal of a cooperative partnership between North and South, the programme is aimed at students as well as practical personnel from African and European countries. 

The programme offers added value to the following target groups:

  1. Full- and part-time administrative staff of governmental and non-governmental (NGOs) institutions and organisations in Germany, in African countries and other countries of the global North and South, in particular if they already have or strive for a role in international cooperation of all kinds.
  2. University graduates from the global North and South who complete the programme as an additional qualification after a bachelor’s degree and after at least one year of professional experience.

In particular, people who are already active in administrations of international cooperation, political partners or implementing partners of projects, are eligible. However, the degree programme is not limited to the states of the partner universities, but is open to all students, particularly from African and European countries. Qualified graduates with at least one year of professional experience may by appointed the partner universities in Ethiopia, Senegal and South Africa. 

Entry Requirements

We welcome applications from all suitably qualified prospective students and want to recruit students with the very best acadmic merit, potential and motivation, irrespective of their background. We carefully consider each application on an individual basis, taking into account all the information presented on your application form, including your:

  • Bachelor’s (BA) degree with 180 ECTS/6 semesters

    • Can be proven by a diploma with a diploma supplements and a transcript of records
    • The acknowledgement, if a study programme has been studied outside the ECTS system, takes place based on ERASMUS-tables

  • 2 years of work experience

    • written proof

  • command of English language (level B2)

    • If the B.A. (equivalent) is based on an English language programme: No further proof needed
    • If B.A. (equivalent) is based on a study programme in any other language: Language command can be proven by a certificate such as TOEFL or Cambridge Certificate with a score equivalent to B2 level.

  • assessment test 

    • We need a support letter from the employer stating

      • that the programme can be studied (especially that the employer will grant leave for the attendance phases) and
      • if the employer grants financial support

    • We need a curriculum vitae from the student
    • We need a motivation letter from the applicant on the subject with two parts

      • “Why do I want to study this programme?”
      • “Why is this study programme important in an overall perspective?”
